My Mom taught me over and over again that being happy is a choice. She often talked about having a positive attitude through any situation. This is a way of life for her. She has mastered it. I came across a story that teaches this principle and it also made me laugh.
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. “Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did and she had a wonderful day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. “Hmmm,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.” So she did and she had a great day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. “Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a ponytail.” So she did and she had a fun, fun day. The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head, “YEAH!” she exclaimed. “I don’t have to fix my hair today!” Attitude is everything—and it’s our choice.

very grandma like... when are we going to Costco? I live in Winterhaven.
I think that if that lady were Grandma Bastian, then she still would have put curlers in--and the three hairs wouldn't have lasted as long as three days. I checked and there is a BYU game on Saturday--bummer for you. But, you will get to see me, so that is a positive!
Couldn't agree more that happiness is a choice. Nothing is more frustrating to me than being around a person who is a "downer".
You are such a great example of someone who radiates goodness and a positive attitude.
That is maybe the best story I have ever heard. I SO needed that today!!
I really needed to read that today. Thanks!
